More than half a million airbags and pyrotechnic components already processed by Belgian specialist
Beringen, 26 June 2025 – Today, Traxio, the mobility sector federation, called for an accelerated collection of Takata airbags. Out of Use endorses the importance of swift action to ensure safety. Since 2019, the Belgian company has been responsible for the collection and processing of over half a million airbags, inflators, and seatbelt pretensioners, working together with garages and importers across the Benelux.
The recall concerns airbags with defective gas generators that can unexpectedly explode. To minimize the risk of accidents, vehicles equipped with these parts are currently being urgently removed from circulation. There is a high need for an accredited and specialized processor.
Specialized processing according to strict safety standards
Since January 2019, Out of Use has been active in collecting and processing pyrotechnic vehicle components. The company has already processed 377,506 airbag inflators, 151,151 complete airbags, and 51,732 seatbelt pretensioners. Collections were carried out through 1,093 garages, where 1,113 ADR-approved collection containers are currently in operation.
The collection and processing are fully compliant with European regulations on dangerous goods (class 9 – ADR). Each component is registered, transported with full traceability, and destroyed under controlled conditions. Out of Use holds the necessary permits, follows strict safety procedures, and operates a specialized logistics network with its own trucks.
