Mark Adriaenssens elected as Sustainability Ambassador
On February 20th, during the Sustainability Professional event organized by VBO FEB and Time4Society, Mark Adriaenssens, founder and CEO of Out of Use, was elected as Sustainability Ambassador. This prestigious recognition is awarded to individuals who distinguish themselves through their dedication to sustainability, confirming Adriaenssens' leadership and impact in the sector.
Adriaenssens has a longstanding involvement in the recycling industry. In 2009, he founded Out of Use, a company dedicated to the circular economy by promoting the reuse of IT equipment. Through collaborations with organizations such as Natuurpunt and Natagora, Adriaenssens has contributed to the expansion of more than 100,000m² of forests in Belgium. The achievement of the WEEELABEX certificate in 2018 confirmed Out of Use as the first Belgian B2B-focused recycler to receive this recognition.
In addition to his contributions to the circular economy, Adriaenssens launched 'Back in Use' in 2023, a sustainable webshop for refurbished IT equipment. This webshop enables clients' staff to repurchase refurbished company laptops from Out of Use for private use. By targeting both B2B and B2C sectors, this webshop contributes to both economic and ecological value creation.
