Thanks to the move to their new energy-efficient offices, Sopra Banking Software released a lot of discarded IT material. Together with Out of Use, they looked for the most sustainable and secure solution.
As an international fintech leader, Sopra aims to minimise the environmental impact of their operations and reduce emissions. With this in mind, they were looking for a sustainable solution for their obsolete IT equipment: "The solutions offered by Out of Use is exactly what we were looking for. An all-in solution where creating new forest is the end result. Wonderful right?"
And the end result was there: no less than 7 tonnes of e-waste processed, 148,282 kg of CO2 saved and 1,328 m² of additional forest in Belgium. "The figures speak for themselves, we are proud that we were able to give our material a meaningful use. The cooperation with Out of Use also went smoothly. There was nothing but praise from all parties involved in the project. Moving an office is in itself a very complex and stressful period. Smooth cooperation with external parties is worth its weight in gold at such a time, and so it proved to be." says Laure Broddelez, HR communication and corporate responsibility officer at Sopra Benelux.
Laure therefore advises other companies to do the same: "The electronic devices used to run your business quickly become obsolete. But thanks to Out of Use, you avoid unnecessary waste. On top of that, you are helping to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This action is a direct contribution to SDG 12: responsible consumption and production, as well as SDG 15: living on land, which seeks to protect, restore and promote the sustainable use of ecosystems."
